In all my advice I always focus on the huge impact to your brand reputation if things go wrong. Without faith in your brand, your customers will soon disappear.
With this in mind, I’ve put together my top tips for you to consider. Some may sound obvious, but in my experience it’s worth keeping them on the list!
Securing Your Home Network
Ensure home networks are secure. Use strong Wi-Fi encryption and regularly update the router’s firmware to protect against vulnerabilities.
Strong, Unique Passwords
I know it may sound obvious but by avoiding pet’s names, your school and other obvious words you’ll already on the right path. Ideally you should utilize strong, unique passwords for all your accounts. Consider using a password manager to keep track of them securely.
Protecting Your Devices
Your laptops and other devices are vulnerable to attack, install reliable antivirus and anti-malware software. Regularly update this software to defend against the latest threats.
Secure Communication Channels
Use Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) to encrypt your internet connection secures a ‘tunnel’ between you and who you are connecting to. Its an essential part of your armoury, especially when accessing sensitive information or using public Wi-Fi.
Safe Browsing Practices
Ensure your browser is up-to-date and use security extensions to block malicious websites and ads. These can be set up in the browser’s admin area. Also be cautious of phishing attempts and avoid clicking on suspicious links.
Ongoing Education and Training
One of the main security threats for your organisation comes from your people. So help them stay informed about the latest cybersecurity threats and best practices. I’ve ensured our regular security training is there to help you recognise and respond to potential risks effectively.
Personal Responsibility and Vigilance
